Most videogame cars built in the real-world by official manufacturers

For the 15th anniversary of Sony's iconic racing sim franchise Gran Turismo, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi invited some of the world's top automotive manufacturers to design innovative concept cars to feature exclusively in future iterations of the game, in a project named Vision Gran Turismo. As of 21 December 2016, 20 concept cars had been designed but three manufacturers had gone beyond that ask, actually turning their designs into fully functional, one-off models: the Mercedes AMG VGT, the Volkswagen GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo and the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo. According to a Sony spokesperson: "Most Vision GT cars are design studies featuring design language of current or production cars. No Vision Gran Turismo cars have been turned into production cars. The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo was sold to a private owner."
