The first pop-up restaurant to serve exclusively 3D-printed food was opened by Food Ink (UK) at Villa Flora in Venlo, the Netherlands, on 12 April 2016. The eight-course dinner was 3D-printed and served using printers produced by byFlow Focus (Netherland) and was created as part of the 3D Printing Food Conference in Venlo.

The dishes were created with the help of Joel Castanye of the celebrated La Boscana restaurant in Lleida, Spain. The "pixels to printer to plates" concept also showcased 3D printed furniture, glassware and cutlery. The courses were garnished with non-printed foods such as salad leaves and vegetables, but the central element of each was an edible 3D-printed item.
