The lowest elapsed time for a Top Fuel drag bike to cover 440 yards (402 m) is 5.709 seconds, and was set by Peter Svensson (Sweden) at the Scandinavian Internationals race meeting at Tierp Arena in Uppsala County, Sweden, on 24 August 2012.
The Top Fuel category of drag-racing motorcycles run on nitro methane fuel, enabling their engines to develop up to 1,500 horsepower.
Despite completing the quarter-mile in the shortest time, Svensson didn’t achieve the all-time fastest top speed. This honour goes to Larry "Spiderman" McBride (USA), who maxed at 245.36 mph (394.87 km/h) over the quarter-mile straight at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Georgia, USA, on 6 March 2006. By comparison, Svensson’s top speed was 238.65 mph (384.07 km/h).
