The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award (formerly Best Entertainment Programme) was inaugurated at the UK’s National Television Awards (NTAs) in 2018 in memory of the legendary entertainer, who died in 2017 at the age of 89. Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV) picked up the first award, at the 23rd edition of the NTAs on 23 January 2018, before I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (ITV) – presented by the ubiquitous Ant & Dec – landed the trophy for the next four years in a row, in 2019–22.

On 23 August 2022, both programmes were once again shortlisted for the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award – for the fourth time in the re-named category’s five-year history – ahead of the 27th NTAs on 13 October 2022, alongside The Graham Norton Show (BBC) and Taskmaster (Channel 4), and it was I'm a Celebrity... that once again claimed the prize for ITV. In his lifetime, Forsyth won the NTAs’ Special Recognition Award in 2011. “It’s so overwhelming – it’s the best thing I’ve ever won,” he said on receiving the award.
