Fastest-selling PlayStation 5 exclusive videogame

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (Insomniac Games, 2023) sold 2.5 million copies within the first 24 hours of its release on 20 October 2023. By the end of the month, 11 days later, sales had reached 5 million units, making it the best-selling PS5 game, as of December 2023.

The third installment in the Marvel's Spider-Man series - following on from the 2018 original and the 2020 sequel, Spider-Man: Miles Morales - continues the action 10 months after the last game, and sees Spider-Men Peter Parker and Miles Morales take on a panoply of villains, including Venom, Kraven the Hunter and The Flame, as well as previous antagonists Mister Negative, Scorpion, Tombstone and Sandman. Players can switch freely between Parker and Morales, each of whom have separate side missions, and at certain points in the game, can even control Venom and Parker's girlfriend Mary-Jane. The gameplay extends beyond the open-world setting of Manhattan to Brooklyn and Queens.
