Kateřina Siniaková (Czechia) won Olympic gold medals at Tokyo 2021 (with Barbora Krejčíková in the women’s doubles) and Paris 2024 (with Tomáš Macháč in the mixed doubles) – the only player in the open era (since 1968) to secure gold in mixed- and same-sex doubles. Reginald Doherty (men’s doubles and mixed doubles at Paris 1900 and men’s doubles at London 1908) and Hazel Wightman (women’s doubles and mixed doubles at Paris 1924) achieved the feat before tennis took a 64-year break from the Olympic Games in 1924.

The other multiple doubles winners at the Olympics in the open era are Serena and Venus Williams, who won gold together three times in the women’s doubles (2000 and 2008–12), and Gigi Fernández and Mary Joe Fernández, who won back-to-back women’s doubles titles at Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996.

Siniaková, the No.1-ranked female doubles player as of 28 October 2024, has won nine Grand Slam women’s doubles titles (from 11 finals), partnering Krejčíková on the first seven occasions (2018–23) and, in 2024, Coco Gauff at the French Open and Taylor Townsend at Wimbledon. She also won the women’s doubles (with Krejčíková) at the end-of-season 2021 WTA Finals.

History-maker Siniaková and Macháč won the Olympic final 6–2, 5–7, (10–8) on a super tie-break, against the Chinese pairing of Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen, at Stade Roland-Garros on 2 August 2024.
