A pair of Lionel Messi’s Adidas boots fetched £125,000 ($174,365) in an online auction, as announced by Christie’s on 30 Apr 2021. He had worn them during a La Liga game against Real Valladolid on 22 Dec 2020, when Messi had scored his 644th goal for FC Barcelona – breaking Pele’s single-club record of 643 goals for Santos.
Messi had signed the boots and donated them for auction to raise money for a hospital.
