Longest running body farm

The “Body Farm”, Knoxville, Tennessee, USA, was founded in 1971 by forensic anthropologist William Bass (USA). Part of the Forensic Anthropology Center at the University of Tennessee, the farm is a 1.2-ha (3-acre) plot of land where human bodies are allowed to decay, under a variety of conditions, in order for scientists to study how the decay happens. This experiment gives valuable information used in post mortems and murder crimes. At any one time, there are around 40 human cadavers rotting in the Body Farm.
