Most detailed in-game maps in a videogame

The most detailed in-game maps in a videogame are found in Total War. The mapscover the whole of Europe and are generated from the real terrain of the area, giving it a working area of around 10,000,000 km² (400,000 miles²). Other games have covered a larger area of the Earth (e.g. Civilization), but not in such detail. Every battle that takes place in-game uses the local terrain, accurately modelled by comparison with the larger map, the local terrain and climate.
