Aged 46, Castroneves won his record-equalling fourth Indy 500 in 2021 driving the No. 06 AutoNation/Sirius XM Honda of Meyer Shank Racing. His average speed around 200 laps of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was 190.690 mph (306.885 km/h), beating Tony Kanaan’s previous best from 2013.
The Indy 500 has been shortened on account of rain seven times to date, with the winners in 1973 and 1976 recording faster finishing times than Castroneves without completing the full 200 laps.
