O’Callaghan broke the longest-standing world record in women’s swimming, surpassing Federica Pellegrini’s mark of 1:52.98 from the 2009 world championships. It was the 19-year-old’s second world record in Fukuoka, having also been part of Australia’s record-breaking 4 x 100 m freestyle team.
