The fastest time to run a half marathon wearing geta is 2 hr 6 min 22 sec and was achieved by Hayato Date (Japan) at the Wakaura Bay Marathon with Jazz in Wakayama, Wakayama, Japan, on 12 November 2017.


The attempt was taken place with the challenger's passion to let the world know about "geta", a traditional Japanese footwear made of a high wooden sole. Geta used for the attempt had two blade wooden sole, which had been confirmed to be 4.8 mm high before the attempt.
